Great Hunting Jacket
About Me Classic Dresser
Comments about Men's Tailgating Jacket:
I bought this jacket at a local dealer for deer hunting here in Pa. It is very warm and fits perfectly. I am very happy with it and am disappointed it is discontinued.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I'm very fond of this coat and have received compliments on it, but I am not satisfied with the quality of the buckles on the adjustable waist straps. They are made of a very light, thin, soft metal that bends too easily. One of them has been bent and straightened to the point that it may crack and fall off at any time. Such flimsy hardware is surprising in a coat otherwise so heavily and sturdily constructed.
The large was too large and the medium was ok in sleeves but too tight in chest. Nice coat material

My dad had a jacket like this in the 50's. I own the classic field coat in red. When the tailgating jacket went on sale I couldn't pass it up in the green. Both colors are great. I'm 6 ft. and 210 lbs and bought the XL. It's roomy which is what I like in case I want to wear a hooded sweatshirt or sweater underneath. Also, the fit is good if you are blowing or shoveling snow. It's a heavy jacket but that's Woolrich wool. Keeps you warm and dry in most winter weather. The only downside is if you are out in a soaking rain the coat will eventually get wet and will weigh a ton.
I have not had the a chance to test out this coat yet. It has not been cold enough yet. I will be hunting in Tioga County this November & December, check back with me then. Right now I love the coat it fits great.
Best of the old, Best of the new!

The jacket is a little bulky, but not uncomfortably so. Warm, easy to zipper, great all around jacket.
Supposed to be a gift. Had to send back. Smelled musty. Company is awesome and said that they would take care of the shipping back at no charge to me!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Have not started using it yet ... not cold enough here in GA.
Great product and sale
The sleeve length was long for my usual large selection so am trying a med. Good materal but a little stiff-may soften after laundry ordry clean.

If your looking for a classic wool work/field jacket for the cold, this is perfect. I had been looking for a while and the other comparable ones I found were around 230.00-250.00 and were not made of as heavy gauge wool as this is. Nor were most of them lined on the inside. The hemmed cuffs inside the sleeves were and unbelievable bonus. Bought mine in green/black and will probably buy the red/black as well. You can't go wrong.
exactly what I expected it to be
comfortable, warm, good fit, quality made, thick wool, large well made zipper, nice traditional pattern and color, primary use for hunting but can be worn everyday.

Large vs xLarge
from Upstate NY
Large was too small in the shoulders, I sent it back for an XLarge. Hoping the size up will not be too big. We'll see. Generally, the jacket was well put together, and a good length for actively working through the woods.

Haven't been able to wear it yet but have no doubt this will be a "go to" for football games, casual nights out and running around town. Quality is great, which is what what you'd expect from Woolrich. Only regret is that it isn't made in USA.

Waaaayyy too big
Pit to pit measurement on a large is 26".Sleeve length (from end of shoulder) = 25.5"Woolrich may have made this jacket LOOK like it's from the 50's, but it's sized to fit the FAT generations of 2011. I'm 6'1", 190lb, 42"chest and the large fits like a clownsuit. All my other jackets, shirts and sweaters are large and fit great. Also, collar is way too bulky (beyond being big enough for. And... it's made in Thailand.
A Great Purchase

Terrific overall quality - haven't seen anything as good anywhere else at this price and quality.
Looks good-can't wait for snow & cold
from mullan, idaho
It is heavy, just like the jacket it is copying from the "old days". Haven't worn it yet, but winter is coming soon, and I am sure it will perform just like the old coat I own.
Shold be renamed...

Definitely NOT a jacket, more of a coat by definition. Heavy material, much too warm for the current weather conditions. Very well made, I foresee passing it on to future generations.
from Everett, WA
Well made, quality throughout. Can't wait to get it out into the Northwest climate. Thanks for all the helpful reviews. This coat is "as advertised".

I would have preferred a solid color. Also, the little metal buckles on the adjustable tabs seem cheap; out of character with the rest of this garment and what I know about your entire product line (I own four woolen items from you). But it's suprisingly warm. And, after the winter we had, a valuable possesion. A pleasure to wear. Thanks
Like getting an old friend back!

I always liked Woolrich. [...] I'd rather have the jacket.
