Good parka but too tight upper body
By JohnM
from Watertown, MA
Was looking for a light parka, and this would have worked, but the chest was too small, as was the neck area (I couldn't pull on the hood without completely unzipping the parka). I found the shell a little noisy too, which is not so great for bird watching. I liked the weight, which would allow you to layer, the drawstring around the waist, water repellancy, and the light wool lining. But had to return because of sizing.

Not like the old jacket
By Dendude

About Me Classic Dresser
This is not as warm as the one I got in 1987 that had Gortex/Thinsulate and the new one is about half the weight of the old one. I would use this new one on above 40 degree days maybe when it's going to rain.I looked for one that was like the old one but wasn't able to find one. Most of them have down filler and I don't care for down, first time the jacket gets ripped you start losing feathers. Thought I check out the new one sense it was on sell. It fits fine, I went one size above normal as recommended. It's still a nice jacket, just not as warm as I would like it. It doesn't have the Velcro face flaps that go across the lower part of the face to keep your face warm like the older ones. It'll be nice if Woolrich went back to there older style type, I would buy one.

Perfect Coat for "Wintery Mix" Weather
By Gianni
from Brooklyn, NY
I did a ton of research when deciding what Parka to get for those rainy, gross, cold, windy NYC days. When it came down to value, comfort, style and durability the Woolrich Parka just seemed to be the perfect one. The flannel liner makes it just warm enough for boarder-line snow temps, and real comfortable (you can layer to wear it in colder temps). The hood isn't too bulky, and blocks wind and rain when you've got it up. Being able to adjust the wrist area without changing the look of the sleeves is cool too.My only issue is the front pockets are kind of bulky, and putting anything in them makes them look bigger than they are.I would absolutely recommend this parka- big fan

Great jacket but runs small
By wiccangirl

Very good looking.More of a medium warmth-not for frigid cold.Runs small, especially in the shoulders.Advise to go up a size & it will fit perfectly.

I like it so far.
By Delta Kilo
from Northern Michigan
The coat is high quality. Runs a bit small. I'm 5'8" and had to but XL which makes the pockets a bit low. Too much velcro on flaps makes opening a two hand operation which is bothersome. Lower hand pockets will not hold anything without falling out. Could have put more thought into design.

Replaced 25-year old Woolrich parka
By Jack
from Nashville, TN
I purchased a Woolrich parka at least 25 years ago and recently noticed it was ripped near one of the glove pockets. I was pleased to learn from the website that Woolrich still makes essentially the same parka. I bought one and expect another 25 years of use out of it. It's a good weight for most winter days in Tennessee. On the colder days I simply add a warm sweater beneath it.

Looked like a good coat at a good price but was way too small across the shoulders.
Just Right
By Dave

I had one of these 25 years ago and it was great, I wore it to Europe. The updated version is even better. I wear it most places I go, including the office. It would be better with a second vest pocket inside and velcro is not as stylish as buttons or snaps, but those my only criticisms. This parka is exactly what it's advertised as, a light weight outter shell. It's made to be used with layers so get a size larger than you need without a heavy vest or sweater under. I did not have any problems with quality or size that other reviewers have mentioned. Great parka, I'll be back.

ordered a large, then an extra large...neither one was adequate...returned them both...are these being made by someone in China ? I usually wear an large - sometimes an extra large, but both sizes felt the same, and they were just too small...

no insulation in arms

I bought one of these ten years ago. This is a cheap version of what I bought. Buy the LL Bean Mountain Parka. That's what I did after returning this one. It has insulation in the sleeves

Excellence
By Prof. Chaos
from Blyn, Wa
I've owned two similar Woolrich coats for many years and they finally wore out. I was delighted to find that the style was not only still available, but had been improved with Teflon waterproofing and an interior pocket. These (I bought two) will be everyday wear in an area of northern Washington state known for cold, wet weather. With Woolrich coats I'm actually looking forward to confronting Feburary.
"Not the same"
By Geebz
from St. Paul, MN
I have had several mountain parkas from the 80's and 90's. They were great that is why I bought another. I was very disappointed with the fit of this jacket. The shoulder width was too narrow, the sleeve length was excessive, the upper portion of the sleeves was very small and tight around the biceps. The wool lining was very thin like a light weight flannel. It is unfortunate that the quality and workmanship has been lost on this classic parka.
Great coat

It's cold and windy here. I needed a coat that can stop the wind. This works great.
Go-to Jacket
By Wally

Great! Had one over 30 years ago. It was my favorite go-to jacket for 3-seasons. Glad to see it is back, and still with great quality.

Actual size smaller than advertised
By Jim
from Lino Lakes,MN
Had to return article for an exchange to a larger size because the advertised specifications were larger than that of the actual jacket.
Think about it
By Jose

Could have had another zipper rather than the snap buttons. The liner could have been thicker, thus warmer. Not bad in South Texas but could be a problem in the plains.
Mountain Parka what a great product
By Mikeyjock
from Chicago,IL.
Parka is worn when temperatures get in the 40s and below. It keeps the wind and cold out and quite warm. What has to be done is use of snap buttoms which can be a problem if you need to remove the jacket.Otherwise for the price it is a great value and looks very stylish. My last parka last me 8 years decided time for a change.

Even though I ordered up one size the jacket was still too small. Bring your production back to the USA, I rather pay more and get a better product!
Sizing that doesn't make sense.
By Daniel
from Austin, TX
This parka has everything I wanted, but it is much too small in the chest and arms. The sleeves are too long, but I am accustomed to that because I am short. There is no way I can layer a sweater or fleece vest under it because I cannot raise my arms. Very disappointing.

The classic 60/40 mountain parka!
By Ken
from Montana
Bought my first Woolrich mountain parka in the 70's and wore it for almost 30 years till it finally wore out and the wife made me trash it. Glad to see an old friend back. This is the original layering shell - long before Gore-tex and other uber fabrics made their appearance. In the 70's I wore it over wool and a down vest. Now I layer this with polypro, wool, or a fleece liner. What's even better about this one than my old vintage one? This one's machine washable! It's not supposed to be flattering - it's supposed to be useful - and it is. The classic 60/40 mountain parka.
