Feet get really cold working with the horses in the barn, and in the past I have had to resort to using the heat gels to keep them from closing in on frostbite; however, the ten mile wool socks were a boon last winter and I wore them out. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but well worth the cost because they keep feet toasty without having to insert any type of warming device. If they can keep feet warm in zero degree and lower temperatures (and they do), in my area, I am sure they would work well throughout the lower forty-eight. Because there is a comfortable "give" to the wool, I would suggest considering a smaller size -for example, if you wear a woman's size 7.5 shoe, you can order the small and they will fit.

This is the second year I have bought these for my son-in-law's Christmas stocking. He is a Coast Guard helicopter pilot and wears these with his work boots. He said they are perfect for him.

Best athletic sock I've found. Use for basketball. Absorbs moisture; will not blister feet; stays up; excellent durability. Need to offer it in white like you used to.

Purchased for camping/hiking. Sock was a snug fit which is what I wanted because a loose sock would have bunched up or slipped around. Only worn on one camping trip but they seemed to hold up pretty well so far.

I am a tender foot and get blisters when hiking very easily, even with smart wool; but these seem to do the trick. softest and cushiest I have found -- and I am a sock connoisseur.

Bought several pair a few years ago. Great socks. Needed more. Not in local stores. Other than same color, these socks no way resemble the old ones. Much too large for a "large" sizing. And so thin they are no different from cushion gold toes... I still like Woolrich products. Just not these socks.

3 years ago, I bought 3 pairs of the barley colored 1/4 socks. These are the most comfortable socks I have ever worn! I wear them whenever I'm not dressed up for work. They are medium thick socks so I don't wear in all of my shoes. All 3 pairs are still in good shape; they still have good support and no holes.
I also bought a black pair of the crew socks--they don't have as much support as the barley colored socks and they pick up tons of lint in the dryer. Still good socks but not as comfortable as the barley colored material and I don't wear them much.
My feet are small and narrow so I have alot of trouble finding socks that fit. My experience is that most men's socks are one size fits all. These socks are the most true to size that I have ever found.
