About Me Casual Dresser
This is a Beautiful coat however we had to return for a smaller size. He usually wears a XL but it was way too big around the belly and hung off the shoulders. The Large fits perfect. He's 5'10" and about 185 lbs.

Gotta love it
By Capt MIke

I live in FL so when I travel to cold places I really feel the chill. Last night I want to dinner and a movie and it was in the teens where I'm visiting, this coat blocked the wind and kept me toasty all night. I was as happy with it then as I was with a pair of wool pants and a tie at Christmas eve mass.

This is a great coat. The pockets into which you can put your hands are a little high and hard to get into but maybe that's because I'm old! Flexibility isn't my strongpoint.Great coat. Just what I hoped it would be.

Back to the Future!
By Tess
from Minneapolis, MN
This coat is amazing! It is true to size and fits well. It is everything we thought it would be. It has a vintage feel and my 20 year old son loves it. He feels as though it was made for him, the color is flattering, not to loud like some that have tried to copy the design. This is a nice warm coat, it has knit cuffs inside the sleeves which keeps the wind out. It would do well to be just a touch longer in the back. It looks great on him and after reading some of the reviews we were concerned about the collar, it actually is a useful attribute of the coat. We just got 15 inches of snow and was glad we had the jacket when we did. Very warm and we have some pretty cold weather here in Minnesota. Its a great Jacket you won't regret this purchase!!!

Proven and Trusted
By Jason

I inherited my grandfather's coat which still was like new after years of service. Unfortunately, that coat was stolen in the airport. I purchased a new one and I have to say "I love it". There is a reason that this coat has been trusted for generations. I also purchased the pants for hunting. The two are heavy but when I wear them I feel protected. Very warm and trusty and if I had to camp out unexpectedly due to weather, given a small fire; i've no doubts in this product. Highly recommended if you care for someone that braves the great outdoors in winter weather.

The finest hunting coat I have ever owned. I have used this coat regularly during hunting season for years now with no sign of wear. Pair it up with the classic wool pants and you are ready for the Adirondacks!

just a knockaround coat wear to and from work and local places nice with a casual shirt and pants or jeans i find nothing wrong with this coat has a great look about it already had comments people have asked me about ordering one told me his father had one and he has been looking for one just like it gave him the website and now he"s ordering one for himself.
Great Coat! Very heavy and very warm!
By Joe

Overall a a GREAT coat. Heavy dense wool and it will keep you warm. It fits good and wears fine. Similar to the old woolrich hunting coats we all wore years ago. Woolrich has a long tradition of qulaity wool garments and even though this coat is not made in the USA, the quality is there! I would encourage anyone to purchase it for everyday casual use. The lining is comfortable and feels terrific. On the flip side, the buttons are very cheap and not on secure. Overall double thumbs up - yes buy it!

In-laws Hit the Jackpot!

Got this jacket for our son-in-law who likes something that not everyone will have or wear! He loved this jacket! Also, he is an avid outdoorsman so thought the vintage aspect was great! We were all just very satisfied with our purchase! Thank you!
This is the jacket for a lifetime!
By Chef Tim

I have had 3 of these coats in my life. I started at 10 years old and 40 years later it is the best artcle of clothing, period. I have been in 30 below in Colorado, 25 degrees in San Francisco and everything in between. The coat works for the fit, the style, the ability to clean, the collar, the back pocket and all the pockets too! The coat does not stop the ability to move quickly. It looks great and you can be seen from a distance. The collar is the key to this jacket, when the winds comes up, the collar goes up and you do not lose any momentum. I cook for a living. I wear my whites, apron and this jacket to make my living. If it starts to get cold, put this jacket on, live and work in a Woolrich, Period!

Nice but too heavy
By Gator
from Macomb Mi
The coat is original, warm and stylish. Unfortunately it is too bulky and very heavy too wear for long periods of time. It is pricey but it does serve its purpose as a hunting coat.
This is the coat if you want warmth.

I have worn the red and black version of this coat for 30 years for hunting in our northern woods and general wintertime outdoor activities. The coat is somewhat bulky but warm and waterproof. With little care this coat will last a lifetime of rugged use.

Well what can you say a coat that I've worn on and off during all these years, hunting seasons, snow storms and casual use. I love the big collar, if you are hunting or out in the cold you will come to appreciate the collar. When I was young and very skinny I felt that the coat was a little cold on my back. I placed a light weight sweater in the game carrier- did the trick. As I put on weight over the years the coat was warm sitting on stand. Look if you want an sub zero type coat then buy one, this coat is multifunctional during much of the weather here in the N.E. I didn't wear the coat for many years because I out grew it. I gave it to my grandson. I bought a new coat in my new much larger size and the coat is still good. I have no problem with the buttons, at least not yet, the old coat I have all the original buttons, not one came off! Wool is great for hunting in the quiet. It will shed rain water but is not designed to be a rain coat. In a pouring rain during a hunt I wear different gear. In very cold strong winds the wind does blow inside because the buttons do not do the job of a zipper. I stopped having the problem because I wear a belt on the outside of the coat with my hot seat hanging from it. Most people don't sit on stand for 4 hours in cold with winds gusting to 30 mpg. Here again, the function of the coat overall is excellent. Oh I loved the neck "catch" it holds the coat on your shoulders when you are getting hot walking, etc. A classic coat.

Nice jacket but a couple dislikes
By Scary Gary
from Oshkosh, WI
I bought this jacket at a specialty retailer in Northern Wisconsin. After I brought the jacket home and modeled it for my spouse, she did not like the huge "floppy" collar. She also pointed out the sleeves were real big around and the jacket just did not "look right on me". Otherwise, the jacket is constructed of quality materials and perhaps your spouse won't be the fashion police. Ha. Ha.

I own red one & I'm buying green also
By Bob
from Florida
I have never owned such a warm and comfortable jacket. We live in Florida (last 25+ years) and we went to the Daytona 500 race two years ago. It was VERY COLD & windy, COLD by Fl. standards for February. I wore my red Woolrich and an older guy in the crowd stopped me and complimented that he hadn't seen one of these jackets since his old hunting days up north. As we travel more back up north I plan on buying a green Classic Field Coat also. The two will last me the rest of my life!

Go-to coat for cold winter days.
By SEP

Fantastic coat from top to bottom. Very warm and wind resistant. I live in this coat during winter in Wisconsin. Is made of very high quality material with the exception of the buttons. Having said that, despite my fears that they would not last long, they're still kicking after 2 years! Pockets are roomy and functional. The stand-up collar is a brilliant feature, blocks the wind completely and keeps the snow out well. Dries well and softens nicely after a season of wear (a little stiff out of the box). My go-to coat, it looks great too. There is nothing I'd change about it.

The original pennsylvania tux.
By jim

I have had both of my coats since the early 1960's, I am the second owner. My father was the first, we both have worn them in some pretty harsh conditions, rain, sleet, freezing rain, snow and bitter cold. They coats keep you warm and are virtualy water proof but they do get heavy when soaked with rain. I have sat in the rain all day and never had them get wet on the inside. Wool is the best as far as I am concerned. I have tried all the new types of fabric out there and they are good but nothing beats this coat for its designed purpose. I had to replace the pants that come with the set about 12 years ago because the thread started breaking in the seams. The material is as good as the day it was puchased some 50 plus years ago. The new pants were assembled in Mexico as are the new jackets so I hope they last half as long as the original made in USA coats have.

Great coat!
By mntview
from Hawk Springs Wyoming
Bought this coat for my husband who works on a farm/ranch. We have been frustrated by the so-called "ranch wear" that is available on the market. Was excited to see that this coat was a washable wool, and has the classic look of a true ranch coat. The coat is heavy, and in fact he wears it only when the weather is very cold. This jacket is a bit big in the body, but, if needed, he can add a layer (hooded sweatshirt) underneath. This coat is also heavy. Literally. We are anxious to see, after some wear if the reviews stand true, and the coat holds up to the rigors of ranch related work.(the sleeves are always the first to go!) The color (red/black) is great, and, looks "old school" without looking dated. The ONLY disappointment: because the company is Woolrich, we expected the coat to be made in the USA...that was a huge let down. Aside from that, based on performance so far, would likely recommend. Again, are anxious to see "long term" wear results.

Too Bulky - Uncomfortable sleeves
By Mike

I'm 5' 11", 175 & a medium just feels bulky. The cuffs in the sleeves are not comfortable to me. I bought the Stag Lined Jacket instead & love it. Much better fit & comfort.

nice material but do not like the design
By John in the city
from Brooklyn New York
Nice but.........the collar is HUGE and CIRCULAR. This jacket seems to have been designed for woman only. If you're a man in the market for a warm coat, buy a Woolrich shirt jac. The shirt jacs have a much better collar design and are incredibly warm--just wear layers. I wore my new Woolrich stag shirt while I biked home during a light sleet and was very comfortable.

Great warm coat, which probably will never wearout. A great coat for cold miserable days, you cant go wrong. Too bad it isn't made in the USA, That would be even better.
Very Classic and warm
This has been a very nice coat and I have been very happy with the fit and quality.

Great Coat
By Mot

I recently visited my brother in Santa Fe and he had one of these coats and I wore it almost everyday. When I got home to Nashville I went on a quest to find one for myself. I love this coat. It's warm and roomy. It's a great coat. The only complaint I have is the snaps on one of the pockets broke right away.
