Good fabric- clasp needs an upgrade
By D2
from Minnesota
About Me Athletic, Practical
Comments about Men's Big Horn Wool Pants:
Overall the fabric is as expected- warm, washable wool. The location of the front closure clasp is too close to the edge of the fabric and causes it to twist. The clasp is less sturdy compared to most dress pants, rather than more. Likely to break or tear the fabric after any stress or tension.

Look good, but tight fit

Size is smaller than other items I buy of same size. The hasp at the waist came undone when I first put the pants on, it was barely sewed on.

go a little bigger waist
By Lord of the Fishes

Wool is a nice change from usual khakis and jeans. Definitely good for casual wear but a little step up from usual clothes. Comfortable, warm, nice subdued herringbone pattern. My wife liked them, and I'm giving a pair to my son for his birthday.Needs some care in washing according to the label.Material is not as thick as I expected but that may be a good thing for indoor wear when the woodstove is cranking. Also likely needs some care in pressing out any wrinkles after washing; steam with a protective towel over the fabric. Everybody needs a pair like this, something to wear when office wear isn't called for, but you want a little improvement over your usual Saturday yard work look.

I was pleased with the quality
By biorunner
from Casper, WY
The comfort and durability of these pants are exceptional. I am an active outdoorsman, and these pants fit my needs exceptionally. They are warm while remaining comfortable and stylish. So far, I have found no flaws in these pants. I would definitely buy another pair. The only change I would like to see is the addition of suspender buttons. The fit is superlative, but I still prefer suspenders, and I think buttons would enhance not only the style and appearance, but the versatility of these pants, as well.

Living in Massachusetts I was looking for comfortable, warm winter pants that could be worn every day, and still look good. These fit the bill. The wool is very soft.

I really like these pants, though I think the rise is cut a little short for me. Also, I thought because of the fit, the waist ran small. I'm not an overweight guy; pretty athletic. I sent them back for the next larger size, which I think will be a good fit. The pants as I said above, are soft, warm and comfortable; at least for the short time while I was trying them on. Can't wait to get them back. They were well made as I find with all of my purchases from WOOLRICH. Catch them on sale and you have a real bargin!

Slightly deceiving name
By GWP

About Me Classic
With a name like "Big Horn", I expected these pants to be heavier in weight than they are. I also disagree with the description "extremely warm". Other than that, it's a very nice fabric with a subtle and handsome pattern.I only wish that they came in a more "finished", pleated version.

Love these trousers!

I had been looking for some winter wool slacks I could wear to work, but that weren't too "dressy". Ran across these and WHAM...PERFECT! They fit great, are VERY comfortable, and perfect for work or a "spiffed" up occasion. I will probably only have these dry cleaned as I want them to stay as they are......Just perfect!
good wool, bad button/fastener

It is a great wool blend, lined and comfortable and warm. The only problem is with the waist fastener: cheap, breaks off easily. This occurred on 2 out of 2 pairs.

small but nice
By Spychic

About Me Athletic, Career, Comfort-oriented, Stylish
these are 3.75 stars. not a homerun, but not a foul ball either. first, i'm a chic who ordered these b/c i wanted work/cold weather casual/dog walking pants and boy wool is ALWAYS better made than girl wool. plus the rear pockets were way cute. but at this price, i expected that thick almost melton type wool, instead they're a thin herringbone which was not visible in close ups. i'm 5'7"/ 144, size 10-12, so the 32 waist should fit fine or loosely. it does not. it is tight and will require a return (unless i loose weight over the holiday...oh but a girl can dream). i considered getting the next size up in gray b/c then maybe the herringbone would be less visible. that and as another reviewer mentioned, they are short waisted and with the small pockets, look a lot like girl pants.

Quite Nice
By Peter
from Hanover, PA
The pants are fairly warm, as hoped for. The wool fabric is quite soft, softer that expected. The lining may not be necessary for "scratch resistance" but is does help with wind resistance since the fabric is not a particularly tight weave. The muted herringbone pattern was not apparent from the on-line information, but makes the pants look like dress/sport. The pants seem to be a "short rise". Some extra room there would be a plus. Slash pockets would be an improvement. The pocket openings run vertically along the side seams, which makes getting hands into pockets more difficult. The back pockets could be a little larger.
Cheap pants
By DaBA
from Berkeley, CA
These pants are a good example of what's wrong with many clothes today, especially mens trousers. They are ALMOST decent pants. The material is ok and they have a lot of potential. The problem is there is no shape to the leg, so in the end they feel quickly slapped together and shoddy. The inferior material of the lining reinforces this feeling. Woolrich usually makes better items, so I'm disappointed. This also is why I typically never buy pants online, just a waste of shipping costs.

The pants are great, very comfortable for work, riding horse, or just hanging around the house. I am a size 30 but 32 waist fit me perfect. I do wish that you could get the length in 34 and waist 32.

Great pants for cold or cool weather. They don't bind when climbing and they look good for a dinner or camping. I wish they made them with a flat cargo pocket or two as another option.

Next best to Woolrich
By Shaykh Rashid

About Me Practical
I was trying to find a few pairs of Woolrich's "Malone" trousers, but apparently they haven't made any of those in awhile, and these are the closest I could get. These are definitely lighter weight than the "Malones"; we'll see how they wear in comparision. I had two pairs of "Malones" that lasted about twelve years. I bought two more, and those lasted about fifteen years. I must be slowing down as I get older - not wearing them out like I used to. Machine-washable, hard wearing, never, ever wrinkled - I could, and did, wear them at a construction site and go to the opera, only having to brush them off. Best darn pants you could buy!
