Great except for the color
About Me Casual, Classic
I have this shirt in a print and love it, but I ordered the light olive solid color and unfortunately the color was way off. My wife and I thought they sent the wrong shirt because it clearly looked gray, not green. We have returned the shirt to exchange for a print.

15 years and counting FOLLOW UP

I bought a British Tan to replace the tried and true Fern Green one I sadly snagged. The MATERIAL IS NOT THE SAME and I now sympathize with the reviewer who didn't like the fabric. It is definitely coarser and a lesser thread count than the material used to make the one I'm replacing. This shirt comes out of the dryer with mini-wrinkles and stays that way throughout the day. It's OK - and just OK. But for the $ and from Woolrich...I expected excellent. Hmm. My old shirt is a Cat # 6065 mad in Macau and the new one is a #2S601 made in China.

About Me Casual, Classic, Old guy
This is one of my favorite "go to" shirts for casual comfort and style in cool to cold weather. Unlike another reviewer I bought it because it has a button down collar. It's DURABLE and easy to deal with. Sadly I snagged the pocket of my old Fern green one so here I am looking to replace it. I guess "canvas" is the color I'll be going with...
A sad day :-(

Good shirt, good collar
About Me Classic
A good shirt, for travel and in town. The button down collar is great - and if you don't like it buddy, try unbuttoning it!
I'd buy this again for my husband.

About Me Bargain Shopper
We have purchased this shirt many times at an outlet store in North Conway, NH that has since gone out of business. The shirt was $10-$15 cheaper there. My husband loves this shirt, so I decided to purchase one as a gift for his birthday.

Dump the buttondown collar!
By Alvord Al

I'm a nature photographer, so really like the flap-closure pockets to keep small gear and notepad from falling out. Also like the elbow patches for greater durability, and that it's all-cotton. Good colors to choose from, too. I'd buy several to use for field shirts, but hate button-down collars---too hot because of air flow restriction at throat while hiking. Also annoyingly pushes the collar upward into my beard. All-cotton field shirts are hard to find these days. So please change design to a relaxed, unrestrictive collar and I'll place an order!

I own 6 Explorer shirts and am replacing two identical shirts that have lasted for years and provided excellent service. Shirts being replaced remain in good, wearable condition, with minor signs of wear at edge of cuffs due to frequent washing and wearing.

Received this shirt as a gift, loved it so much purchased another in a different color.
Not made as well as they look!

These shirts have nice details but the cotton is poor quality and does not launder well. I have two of these and the quality is no where close to Brooks Bros. or Polo.
Nice, but expensive to launder.
from Madison, WI
Very nice shirt, and I would have gotten another in a different color, but so-so on the wash and wear. And, because the velcro closure on the pockets requires hand ironing at the local cleaners, it costs twice as much to have laundered. Too bad, I love this shirt, but never wear it.
Still a great oxford shirt, but ...

The re-designed Explorer exchanged the former hidden button-tab collar for a conventional button-down style. The old style gave us something different in an oxford, and made it easier to dress-up with a tie for foreign travel combining field work and meetings. Still a high-quality shirt, just not as nifty as previously.
You get what you pay for
I wore mine out. The best expression of my satisfaction with the explorer shirt is that I am shopping for replacements today.
I've had one and just ordered 3 more
