Woolrich, whose apparel has been worn by explorers and adventurers since 1830, has teamed up with Jordan Hufnagel and James Crowe of adventure outfitter West America on an epic motorcycle odyssey from Whistler, BC to Patagonia and back. The duo will be wearing Woolrich apparel while documenting their trip and have developed a capsule of apparel inspired by the journey. Below is the second in a series of report from the road.
The highway 1 that snakes along the coast of California is a ride that we both try to hit at least once a year. It never gets old, untouched rugged coastline and constant mist make it a dreamscape. After descending from the dry grasslands of the previous day we climbed over the coast range outside of Garberville, winding up the banked curves and descending to the ocean below.
Neither of us had eaten any food all day but we where saving our appetite for a little spot down the coast, Queenie’s Cafe is a go to anytime we are in the area. The cafe shares the building with the hard wear store and the local repair shop. We reached the cafe as they where closing the door for the day. The server could see how desperate we looked and took some pity on us. We both inhaled a couple burgers and three cups of coffee for the ride ahead. The sun was setting and we would be riding the rest of the way to San Francisco in the dark.
Pulling into the big city was overwhelming for both of us after being on tiny backroads all week. Sitting in the slow lane trying not to get run over by the modern world racing to the next deadline. Our dear friend Ayni Raimondi was patiently waiting our arrival and getting to her apartment was a relief. Shedding our layers for the first time in a week and relaxing in the warmth of great company was just what we both needed.
